the relief of retired diocesan priests or those priests who are no longer able to carry out their pastoral duties of the roman catholic church for whom the roman catholic diocese of portsmouth has a responsibility under canon law by the provision of housing maintenance and general charitable support to further the religious and other charitable work of the roman catholic church in the parish, with a preference being given to the former parish of st. james, reading to relieve in cases of hardship or distress persons who are a resident within a 10 mile radius of the roman catholic church in pangbourne and particularly persons who are elderly or homeless the support and education of young men and boys training for the priesthood of the roman catholic church for the roman catholic diocese of portsmouth the trustees shall hold the trust fund and its income upon trust to apply them for the following objects a) for the financial assistance of children from needy families to attend the diocesan summer schools in religious education, organised by the portsmouth diocese,b) for providing training and/or teaching aids for the diocesan summer schools,c) for financing the training of young catechists aged 16-25 for the diocese of portsmouth,d) for providing special training for catechists of disabled children in the diocese of portsmouth,e) and if all these purposes shall be exhausted, then the trustees shall decide any future purpose which must lie within the framework of catechetical work of the diocese giving priority to young people or those who work with them in furthering the religious and charitable work of the roman catholic church in the isle of wight. the objects of the cio (the objects) are the advancement of the roman catholic religion in the diocese in such ways being charitable as the bishop shall from time to time direct and for the service and support whether in the diocese or outside the diocese in such ways as aforesaid of any lawful charitable purposes whether educational or otherwise promoted or supported by the roman catholic church.
