the objects of the cio are the advancement of education for the public benefit by: 1) permitting the land and buildings known as welford sibbertoft and sulby endowed school, west street, welford, northampton nn6 6hu (“the school”) to be used as a voluntary day school; 2) the provision of grants of financial assistance in or towards: a) providing such special benefits of any kind not normally provided by the local education authority or school trust for the school as may from time to time be agreed by the trustees and the governors of the school; b) promoting the education (including social and physical training) of persons under the age of 25 years who are resident in the area of the ancient parish of welford and who are in need of financial assistance, and in particular but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing: (i) awarding to such persons scholarships, bursaries, maintenance allowances or grants tenable at any school, university, college of education, or other institution of further education (including professional or technical) approved for the purpose by the trustees. (ii) providing financial assistance, outfits, clothing, tools, instruments or books to assist such persons to pursue their education (including the study of music and other arts), to undertake travel in furtherance thereof, or to prepare for or enter a profession, trade, occupation or service on leaving school, university or other educational establishment. 3) the provision of grants of financial assistance to voluntary organisations located in the ancient parish of welford and the surrounding area who provide services to persons under the age of 25 years to assist in the provision of activities not funded from normal subscriptions which assist in the education and development of said persons. for the purposes of this clause ‘voluntary organisations’ are independent organisations, which are established for purposes that add value to the community as a whole, or a significant section of the community, and which are not permitted by their constitution to make a profit for private distribution. voluntary organisations do not include local government or other statutory authorities.
