benefit of the residents in the almshouses of the charity in the former borough of newbury and the former rural district of newbury as constituted on 31 march 1974 who shall be:- a) in case of st. bartholomew's, upper raymond and lower raymond almshouses, poor persons of good character who have resided in the area of benefit for not less than three years next preceding the time of appointment. b) in case of st. mary almshouses, poor women who have resided in the area of benefit for not less than three years next preceding the time of appointment. c) in case of thomas hunt's almshouses shall be widows of not less than 60 years of age and subject thereto for relief in need in accordance with the provisions of the cross and robinson charity relieving either generally or individually persons resident in the former borough of newbury and the former rural district of newbury as constituted 31 march 1974, who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress see individual constituents
