to provide an annual gift immediately after each general election of annuitants to one of the unsuccessful candidates at such election as may be nominated by the committee. annuity to person duly qualified in accordance with the rules of the bristol benevolent institution. annuity to a person duly qualified in accordance with the rules of the bristol benevolent institution, preference shall be given to an applicant, british born, who is or was a certified master or a navigating officer holding a masters certificate and formerly engaged as such in the merchant service, or who is the widow or daughter of such master officer. annuity to a person duly qualified in accordance with the rules of the brstol benevolent institution , between applicants of equal merit preference shall be given to a person who was formerly engaged in a printing or wholesale stationery business or was educated at the colston boys school at stapleton, bristol. annuities in accordance with rules of the institution. annuities to members of families of the professional classes duly qualified in accordance with rules of the bristol benevolent institution. to be awarded by the committe immediately after the general election of annuitants to the most deserving unsuccessful candidate. a) in augmenting such one or more of the benefits for the time being granted by the institution as the committee may from time to time determine; or b) in paying the whole or part of such income to applicants for benefits as the committee may from time to time elect but so that any applicant under this provision shall not without the consent of the committee be eligible for any other benefit granted by the institution; or c) partly as authorised in sub section a) and partly as in sub section b). payment of annuities of such amount as the trustees think fit to persons qualified under the existing rules of the bristol benevolent institution. provision of one or more annuities for persons duly qualified in accordance with the rules of the bristol benevolent institution, preference being given to bristol artists. to afford relief, either financial and/or pastoral, to respectable persons of either sex who have by force or circumstances been reduced to comparative poverty, and have become by reason of infirmity or age incapable of providing for themselves. the relief granted by the charity shall be granted to such applicants as may be selected in any manner authorised by the trustees of the institution. to further the objects of the charity known as the bristol benevolent institution (204592)
