to provide housing assistance in accordance with the objects of the douglas haig memorial homes. to relieve tenants of haig homes who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress and who are: 1) widows or widowers or other dependants of deceased members of the armed services. 2) disabled members of the armed services or their dependants. 3) persons who have served in the armed services and their dependants. 4) persons who are divorced or separated spouses of members of the armed services and who have dependant children of the marriage living with them. by making grants of money or providing or paying for items, services or facilities calculated to reduce the need, hardship or distress of such persons: providing preference shall be given to persons qualified as aforesaid who were tenants of the housing association for officers families on 31 march 2005. to provide housing assistance for the following persons :(a) members and former members of the naval military and air forces and reserve forces of the crown, merchant navy and fishing fleets provided they are serving or have/shall have served afloat during hostilities outside examination areas. (b) widows and widowers children or other dependants of deceased members of the naval military and air forces and reserve forces of the crown and of the merchant navy and fishing fleets provided that such last-mentioned members have/shall have served as aforesaid. (c) wives husbands children or other dependents of living members of the naval military and air forces and reserve forces of the crown and members of the merchant navy and fishing fleets provided that such last-mentioned members are serving or have served as aforesaid.
