the property the society shall be applied in relieving officers and former officers of the royal navy (including warrant officers holding warrants before 1 april 1956), the royal marines, the royal naval reserve, the royal naval volunteer reserve, the royal marine forces volunteer reserve and the queen alexandra's royal naval nursing service, their spouses, former spouses, families and dependants who are in need. he object of the charity is for the public benefit to advance the education of persons who are: (1) the sons or daughters of officers of ward-room rank and above in the royal navy, the royal marines or the queen alexandra's royal naval nursing service and (2) in need of financial assistance by the provision of grants or other financial assistance to enable them to pursue their education at any educational institution approved by the trustee.
