Objects:

1a) assisting pupils and students of any age to continue their education by means of scholarships and of maintenance allowances which may, if the council think fit , include allowances to dependents b) providing grants, scholarships , exhibitions or loans to enable deserving and necessitous persons :- to pursue specific courses in forms of study not usually assisted by education authorities, or to be educated or trained for any profession; to prepare for, enter upon and/or engage in any trade, occupation or service, and to equip themselves accordingly c) providing travelling scholarships for poor and deserving scholars and teachers, and assistance to poor and deserving pupils to go abroad during holidays 2. encouraging the arts of and literature of wales and the study of subjects contributing to welsh culture and research therein and in particular :- a) the establishment, maintenance, replenishment and/ or aiding of institutions, libraries, museums, art galleries or art, scientific or industrial exhibitions, whether national or local, for the principal use and benefit of the welsh people b) aiding societies for study and research into subjects connected with welsh history, topography, literature and life c) the provision of lectures, exhibitions and equipment (including musical instruments) d) the provision of suitable premises (by erection, purchase, lease or hiring for occasional use) for study and practice 3. assisting in the establishment, maintenance and equipment of playing fields, parks, open spaces, local centres, institutes and cultural, social, or educational organisations 4. acquiring and preserving land, buildings and objects of beauty or of historical and architectural interest, and acquiring, preserving and publishing records and documents of historic interest to the welsh people 5. advancing the theory and practice of medicine and in particular :- a) aiding medical and social research and schemes for the prevention and treatment of disease b) continuing after school age the medical treatment afforded under the school medical service c) contributing to a medical emergency fund for the benefit of poor persons for whom special provision is not made or readily available d) providing nursery and convalescent homes and hostels 6. making grants for the assistance of persons placed on probation, of children and young persons from approved schools and remand homes and of discharged prisoners 7. providing for the welfare of blind persons including the provision of homes and holiday homes 8. making grants to, and providing almshouses, homes and hostels for aged, infirm or poor persons 9. contributing towards the restoration and maintenance of burial grounds in the county which may have become vested in the representative body of the church in wales 10. contributing to voluntary, charitable or eleemosynary organisations, the purpose of which are not inconsistent with the provisions of the scheme
