(1) the advancement for society members’ and the public benefit of the study, appreciation, and enjoyment of natural history, and(2) the promotion of conservation of the natural environment in the county of lancashire and elsewhere as deemed appropriate by the committee, by:- providing opportunities for members and visitors to meet for natural history presentations and for the interchange of ideas and technical expertise;- promoting public dissemination of information on natural history by public lectures, publications, and cooperation with other bodies;- providing opportunities for members to undertake expert-led field trips or workshops in the county of lancashire and its environs;- providing opportunities for longer natural history excursions in the uk or beyond.note: the society has a particular interest and expertise in ornithology.
