(1) to promote the practice of abstinence from alcoholic drinks and to educate the public about the dangers and effects of alcohol and its adverse effect upon individual and national life. (2) to seek the removal of the causes and occasions of intemperance. (3) to advance the distinctive educational work of the amalgamated organisations in the cause of temperance by means of meetings, lectures, conferences, residential schools and the circulation of literature in the fields of science and educaion, religion, morals and social questions, commerce and industry, and social economics, and (4) to undertake the education of young people in the dangers of alcohol and to assist the education authorities and schools in undertaking this task by providing suitable qualified teaschers to visit schools and give lectures on the physical and social affects of alcohol.
