the advancement of education in engineering in such ways as the trustees shall consider fit to advance the science of engineering & shipbuilding by holding meetings, conferences and lectures, reading & discussion of papers, recording & publication of all the institutions transactions; the establishment & maintenance of a library of models, designs, drawings & other articles of interest; the provision and/or administration of graduate & post-graduate scholarships, the supply & adminstration of monies, books, apparatus etc. for the purpose of promoting inventions & research in engineering & shipbuilding, establishing, contributing towards & administrating a charitable fund from wich may be made donations or advances to deserving persons who may be or have been engaged in engineering & shipbuilding.
