the cultivation and improvement of chemical science the cultivation and improvement of physiological science and comparative anatomy for the purposes of the royal institution of great britain. prizes for essays on science and for the purposes of the royal institution of great britain. for the establishment and maintenance of a laboratory for chemical and physical science. for research work on the practical application of eugenics and fundamental studies in eugenics, genetics and cytogenetics. further endowment to the funds of davy faraday research laboratory trust. for furthering research work at the royal institution for the promotion of scientific research. for the promotion of scientific research the promotion of education in physical science and in particular research into atomic, sub-atomic and molecular structure of matter (1) to diffuse the knowledge and facilitate the general introduction of useful mechanical inventions and improvements;(2) to teach by courses of philosophical lectures and experiments the application of science to the common purposes of life;(3) to promote chemical science by experiments and lectures for improving arts and manufactures;(4) to discover the uses of the mineral and other natural productions of this country; and (5) to diffuse and extend useful knowledge in general. the provision of annual prizes scholarships exhibitions or research grants the incidental expenses of visiting scientists the purchase of scientific apparatus and equipment and such other purposes for the advancement of scientific knowledge as the council shall select in such amounts at such times and on such conditions as the council shall each year in its discretion determine. the objects of the charity are the advancement of education by assisting postgraduate students studying at the royal institution of great britain's premises in albemarle street, london or postgraduate students studying elsewhere in the following subjects:4.1 science related to the work of the davy-faraday research laboratory; or4.2 the history of science and in particular the history of the royal institution of great britain; or4.3 conservation scienceprovided that if the trustee is unable to apply the funds of the charity for these purposes then it shall utilize the necessary funds in promoting the objects of the charity to enable the trustees to achieve the trust objects4.4 all grants and assistance to postgraduate students require approval in writing from the trustees at a formal meeting of the trustees.
