to promote the welfare of all sufferers from leprosy without any political or religious distinction and promote improvements in their treatment. to make known to the public that medicines are available that will cure or alleviate leprosy, and to work for the eradication of prejudices and forcible methods of treatment and any form of discrimination against leprosy sufferers. to ensure that all such sufferers shall be treated as well as patients suffering from other contagious diseases.
