Objects:
the trustees shall apply the income of the charity in one or both of the following ways: (i) in or towards the cost of convalescent treatment for members of the mining community in the areas comprising the counties of durham, northumberland, tyne and wear and that part of the county of cleveland which was prior to 1 april 1974 part of the former county of durham. (ii) in promoting charitable social welfare activities (within the meaning of section 16 of the miners' welfare act 1952) for the benefit of the mining community in the said area.
