3.1 promote the establishment, continuation, efficiency and effectiveness of almshouse foundations.3.2 promote the provision, improvement, upkeep and maintenance of almshouses, and associated services and facilities. the relief of persons resident in the area of benefit who are in need, hardship or distress. to promote the welfare of aged, disabled and needy people in great britain and northern ireland through the provision and maintenance of almshouses. income distributed to (1) national trust for places of historical interest of natural beauty. (2) national trust for scotland for places of historic interest or natural beauty. (3) presbyterian church of england trust (for c j and e j melbourne trust). (4) congregational union of england and wales (incorporated) (for c j and e j melbourne fund). (5) salvation army trustee company (for c j and e j melbourne trust). (6) distressed gentlefolk's aid association. (7) national association of almshouses (for c j and e j melbourne endowment). to provide christmas fare for the poor inmates of such of the almshouses in england as are members of the national association of almshouses the relief of persons in conditions of need, hardship or distress, with a preference for those resident in the borough of hertford, in particular but not exclusively in any or either of the following:1) the provision of grants, loans or other benefits at the discretion of the trustee for the provision of new almshouse accommodation by new or existing almshouse charities;2) the provision of capital funds by way of loans, grants or other benefits at the discretion of the trustee for the replacement, maintenance or refurbishment of existing almshouse accommodation. the object of the charity is the relief of persons in conditions of need, hardship or distress resident in the county of suffolk, with a preference for those resident in the parish of shotley and neighbourhood, in particular but not exclusively in any or either of the following ways:1) the provision of grants, loans or other benefits at the discretion of the trustees for the provision of new almshouse accommodation by new or existing almshouse charities in the area of benefit.2) the provision of capital funds by way of loans, grants or other benefits at the discretion of the trustee for the replacement, maintenance or refurbishment of existing almshouse accommodation in the area of benefit.
