income to be used for the benefit of any person or persons who owing to poverty are in need of pecuniary assistance and who have served in the essex regiment or are the dependents widows or orphans of persons who are serving or have served in the essex regiment (a) to promote the efficiency of the royal anglian regiment by: (1) maintaining contact between past and present members of the royal anglian regiment, the former 3rd east anglian regiment and the former essex regiment, fostering esprit de corps and comradeship between them. (2) preserving the history and achievements of the former essex regiment. (3) further the interests of the royal anglian regiment within the county of essex. (4) encouraging recruitment to the royal anglian regiment. (b) to provide financial and other help for the benefit of former members of the essex regiment and their dependents who are in conditions of need, hardship, sickness or have age related problems. income to be used for the following a) in the assistance or benefit of any such persons, serving or having at any time served in the essex regiment or being dependents, wives, widows (whether or not remarried) or issue of persons (whether living or dead) serving or at anytime served in the essex regiment as may for the time being be in need of charitable assistance or benefit. b) in making grants to any charity or charitable fund or charitable institution (whether the same be a military or civil charity) which directly or indirectly benefits the persons stated in paragraph a for the purposes of the essex regiment chapel at warley and its contents for the improvement, maintenance and reparir both externally and internally of the essex regiment chapel and its precincts. see constituents of group
