1. any sanatoria, convalescent homes, nursing homes, or other institutions in the united kingdom constituted for the reception of the sick poor when requiring rest, change of air or improved diet or sustenance, and not being an institution whereat medical or surgical relief other than inmates. 2. any committee, agency or other body in the united kingdom constituted for the provision for the sick poor of nursing or of food or comforts or necessaries not being medicines or medical or surgical appliances, provided that the total amount of the grant made in one year to any body shall not exceed one-fourth of the total income in the preceeding year.
