1. to encourage for the public advance-ment of education, the acquisition, preservation and use of library materials for the study of commonwealth literature, and to assist in and to advise on the provision, recording and use of such materials in public, university or any other library which is not conducted for private profit and to which members of the public studying the subject concerned are giben free access. 2. to encourage liaison between those producing, supplying and administering such materials and those engaged in teaching the subject. 3. to promote the preparation and publication of biographical and other materials relevant to these aims.
