the objects of which the association is established are: - 3.1 to promote the exercise as a therapeutic tool; 3.2 to support and promote multi-discilinary team in sport and exercise medicine; 3.3 to support the professional needs of those doctors working in the speciality of sport and exercise medicine and to advise on career structures in sport and exercise medicine; 3.4 to provide support and educaiton for those healthcare professionals involved in the care of athletes and individuals undertaking, or aspiring to undertake, regular physical activity at all levels; 3.5 to promote the speciality of sport and exercise medicine and to encourage best standards of clinical practice in the care of the exercising individual; 3.6 to promote the adoption of evidence based practice in all areas of sport and exercise medicine; 3.7 to support and encourage research in sport exercise medicine; 3.8 to promote the adoption of exercise and physical activity by all sections of the population for their general wellbeing and in the promotion of illness; 3.9 to assist and advise all relevant authorities in adopting policies that will encourage and promote physical activity in schools, the work place and the home; 3.10 to co-operate with the faculty of sport and exercise medicine and the institute of sport and exercise medicine and to collaborate with other associations, both nationally and internationally, in furthering the speciality of sport & exercise medicine and the aims of the association.
