to promote the permanent preservation and improvement of the existing woodand and land known as sparkford copse for the benefit of the public generally and especially the inhabitants of the villages of sparkford, queen camel, weston baflyde and sutton montis in the county of somerset and to preserve the charater and amenity of the land known as sparkford copse and land and buildings of ecological or other scientific importance wthin the area and generaly to preserve andprotect the charater and amenitits of the area and for the attainment of the foregoing to consider if it shall be necessary or desirable to promote assist or oppose proposals for the use of development of land within the area.
