Objects:

1. the awards of prizes on the results of examinations and essays and other educational competition conducted by the cib. 2. complete or partial payment of fees or any other expenses including the cost of text books for courses of instruction at a university college technical institute or any other educational organisation (including without limitation courses of instruction organised or conducted by the cib) on any subjects forming part or the whole of the examination syllabus for the time being of the cib or otherwise bearing on any branch of banking business or any other subject or subjects at the discretion of the committee appointed under clause 4 of the declaration of trust. 3. financial assistance to any of the cib for the promotion of research in any subject as specified in sub-clause (2) of this clause. 4. the award of travelling scholarships and the payment of any necessary expenses for such scholarships. 5. financial assistance for the furtherance of such other educational purposes as the committee appointed under clause 4, may from time to time determine being purposes falling within the charitable objects of the cib. the award of prizes on the results of examinations and essay and other educational competitons conducted by the institute. (for details see clause 3 of bye-laws). to relieve in cases of need hardship or distrees persons in the following categories (a) all members of the chartered institute of bankers (cib) whether or not ehy have previously been members of the chartered building societies institute (cbsi) (b) past members of the cib and cbsi (c) the widows, widowers, children and other dependents of deceased persons in the above categories the advancement of knowledge of and education in financial services as the board of governors may determine from time to time and to carry out research and publish the useful results of such research for the benefit of the public
