(1) with the intention of benefiting the public generally and in particular of fostering a spirit of adventure and responsiblility among young people to advance the education of the public in the following subjects: (a) the mechanics and technical skills associated wih the construction, maintenance and operation of sailing ships, steam and motor powered vessels and like craft; (b) the science and skills of maritime navigation and of seamanship; (c) maritime history with particular reference to devon and cornwall and the influence of britain's maritime heritage on world affairs. (2) to establish, maintain and display for the public benefit a collection of maritime artifacts, boats, crafts and sailing vessels from all over the world.
