1. apprenticing or otherwise assisting to start in life, boys educated in the cathedral school, and choristers in the cathedral, at exeter. 2. if and so far as, in the opinion of the trustees, the net income of the foundation cannot usefully be applied in apprenticing the trustees may apply the net income of the foundation in one or more of the following ways:- a. in providing financial assistance, outfits, clothing, tools, instruments or books to enable beneficiaries on leaving school, university or any other educational establishment, to prepare for, or assist their entry into, a profession, trade or callin;b. in waarding beneficiaries scholarships, grants or maintenance allowances tenable at the exeter cathedral school; and c. in otherwise promoting the education (including social and physical training) of beneficiaries. (beneficiaries means boys and young men who have not attained the age of 25 years and who are, have been or intend to be educated in the exeter cathedral school or who are or have been choristers in the cathedral church of st peter in exeter, and who in the opinion of the trustees are in need of financial assistance.)
