provision of a prize of a silver teaport to be awarded annually to a student who shall exhibit the highest degree of proficiency at the third year examination of his course held under the rules and regulations of certified grocers. income to be used for the provision of an annual examination prize. discharging the necessary expenses incurred by students of the institute of grocery distriburtion whilst attending institute examinations, and who apart from such assistance would not be able to submit themselves for examination. 1. to promote education, and training and more particularly industrial and technical education and training in knowledge required for persons working in the food industry.2. to promote, foster and develop the general advancement and application of science, technology and economics by means relative to all aspects of the food industry and to support, conduct, assist and promote research, investigation and experimental works in relation thereto and to publish the results thereof. income to be used to provide an annual prize for a member of the institute of certified grocers, who shall have passed their second year local edamination for the best essay on the practical handling of coffee and/or such other essay or essays in connection with the subject of 'coffee'. to promote education and training and more particularly industrial and technical education and training in knowledge required to qualify persons for working in the grocery trade. provide a prize to a candidate resident in one of the following counties:- nothamptonshire, leicestershire, rutland, derbyshire, lincolnshire, nottinghamshire or staffordshire, who in the opinion of the institute displays the highest proficiency in the subject of provisions at the intermediate examination of the institute and who in the opinion of the trustees in all respects eligible to benefit from the institute of grocers charitable income to be used for examination prizes travelling expenses and scholarships income to be used for the provision oa an annual prizep to provide a prize fo the manchester student who shall achieve the highest marks inthe intermediate examination of the institute of grocery distribution or such other examanination as the council of the institute shall determine financial assiatnce to candidates attending any examinations of the institute of grocery distibution who should otherwise be unabele to affor dthe xpenses occasioned by such attendance The objects of the Charity (the “Objects”) are:a) To promote education and training and more particularly industrial and technical education and training in knowledge required for persons working in the food industry but so that the educational and training facilities shall not be restricted to persons who are or who intend to become members of the Institute or other like body or to persons who are employed by or intend to be employed by particular firms or groups of firms; andb) To promote, foster and develop in such ways as are exclusively charitable the general advancement and application of science, technology and economics by all appropriate means relative to all aspects of the food industry and to support, conduct, assist and promote research, investigation and experimental works in relation thereto and to publish the results thereof. The expression “the food industry” means primarily the trade of manufacture, distribution and sale of food and drink both retail and wholesale but shall include also such ancillary trades or activities relating to manufacture, distribution and sale of food and drink products generally or of particular non-food products as are likely to concern such trade.
