provision of one prize each year. the prize is on each occasion to be open to all candidates who shall be under the age of 25 years at the time of their passing the society's final examination and who shall have served under articles of clerkship in england or wales. provision of prizes, may be competed for by all candidates who shall have served under articles of clerkship in england or wales, and who may, according to the regulations of the society fot the time being in force, be qualified to undergo the examination at which the same may be awarded. each prize shall consist of a gift of money or books out of the income of the trust fund, and shall be awarded by the council of the society to such candidate as shall at the examination have shown the greatest knowledge of, and capacity to advise upon and transact matters of business falling within the province of a practising solicitor to advise upon and transact as a distringuised from the mere knowleedge of the principles and practice of the law. provision of a prize to be awarded after the michelmas final examination in each year to the candidate reported by the examiners to have passed at the final examinations during the year ending with the michelmas term. provision of a prize to be awarded to a candidate at one of the society's examinations who shall have been articled to a solicitor or firm of solicitors carrying on business in the city of newcastle upon tyne or in the county of northumberland and shall have passed not less than two third parts of the entire period of service under his articles f clerkship and in the opinion of the council of the law society shall have shown proficiency as to entitle him to a prize. a prize to be awarded after the law society's honours examination in each michelmas term to the candidate who shall be reported by the examiners to have passed the best examination in honours during the year ending with the michelmas term in the subject of common law and to whom honorary distinction shall have been awarded. two prizes to be awarded for further details see regulations. provision of one prize each year to be open to all candidates who shall be under the age of 26 at the time of their passing their final examination and who shall have served under articles of clerkship in england and wales. the prize shall consist of the income of the trust fund for the year in which the prize is given and shall be awarded by the council of the society to such articled clerk passing one of the final examinations as shall at such examinations have obtained honorary distinction and shown at the same or at any subsuquens special examination held for the purpose, such acquaintance with the theory, principles and practice of the law as shall, in the opinion of the council, entitle him to the prize. provision of a prize to be awarded after the last final examination of the law socity held in the year 1947 and in every subsuquent calendar year to the student being eligible for the prize who shall be reported by the examination committee of the law society as having passed with greater credit than any other eligible student any final examination of the law society held in the then current year. promoting the advancement of legal education by the provision of bursaries and grants for persons who wish to become solicitors. income may be applied in assisting persons who, in the opinion of the law society, are in need of financial assistance to meet expenses involved in training for the profession of the law, with the intention of becoming a solicitor. provision of one prize at each examination which shall on each occasion be open to all candidates who shall have been serving under articles of clerkship in england or wales. the endowment of a scholarship to be open to all candidates who shall have entered into articles of clerkship in england or wales, without regard to age or period of service of clerkship, and shall be tenable for one year. the scholarship shall be awarded by the council of the society, at or after the final exanination in each michelmas term, to the candidate who in that term or in hilary, easter, or trinity terms preceding, shall have preceding, shall have passed such final examinations and who, from his acquantance with the theory, principles and practice of law, shall in the opinion of the council, be best entitled to the scholarship. provision of one prize in each year.the prize is on each occasion to be open to all candidates who shall be under the age of 25 years at the time of their passing the society's final examination and who shall have served under articles of clerkship in england or wales. provision of a prize for the candidate each year articled to a solicitor in the county borough of sunderland or the county borough of middlesborough who has passes the best final examination and to whom honorary distinction has been granted an annual prize to be awarded to such candidate of the law society's pass examinations or final honour's examination in each year as the council of the law society at their discretion may select provision of an annual prize for such candidate who has been articled to a solicitor practising in the counties of chester or derby as shall after the end of the last honours examination in each year be adjudged by the council to be the one of the candidates during the current year who is best acquainted with the law of real property and conveyancing and who has been awarded first or second class honorary distinctions the sum of three hundred pounds a prize to be awarded after the michelmas examination in each year to the candidate who shall be reported by the examiners to have passed the best examination in the first class at the intermediate examination during the year ending with michelmas term. provision of a prize to be awarded to a candidate at one of the societys honours examination who shall have been articled to a solicitor or a firm of solicitors who at the date of the articles, is or are members of the law society. carrying in business in the county of devon, and shall have passed not less than two-third parts of the entire period of service under his articles of clerkship, and who in the opionion of the council of the law society shall have shown such proficiency as to entitle him a prize in either the first or second class. a prize to be awarded to a candidate at one of the society's examinatios who in the opinion of the council of the law society shall have shown such profiency as to entitle him to a prize provision of a prize each year to the best candidate of the year in part ii of the qualifying examination who has not obtained any of the prize provision of prizes to candiates at the final examination who shall be natives of staffordshire and shall have best distinguished themselves in such examination a prize open to those students only who have been originally articled to an attorney or solicitor or firm or attorneys and solcitors carrying on business in liverpool and have passed not less than two third parts of the entire period of service under their aticles of clerkship in that town. the prize shall be given by the council of the society after the final examination in michaelmas term one thousnd nine hundred and seventeen, and so in every subseuqent michaelmas term to the candidate who among the members of the class described in te preceding article shall be reported to the council by the examiners as having passed the best examination in that term or in the hilary, easter or trinity terms of the same year, and as entitled to honorary distinction and (so long as candidates entitled to honorary distinction are or may be grouped into three or more classes) in the first or second class only. the prize shall not be awarded to any candidate who shall be above the age of twenty-seven years on the first day of his final examination. INCOME TO BE APPLIED TO HOLDERS OF SCHOLARSHIPS TO BE GRANTED ONE IN EACH YEAR AND TO BE TENABLE FOR THREE YEARS OF ú50 A YEAR EACH PAYABLE HALF YEARS provision of an annual prize to be awarded for the encouragement of: a) clerks who had already entered or who might thereafter enter into articles of clerkship to solicitors who at the date of the articles were members of the law society carrying on business either in the city of wakefield or bradford both in the county of york or: b) to any candidate chosen by the law society at their discretion who having served under his articles of clerkship in any part of england or wales to a member of the law society shall be reported by the examiners as having been awarded honorary distinction in that year. provision of a prize after the final examination in michaelmas term each year to a student who has been originally articled to an attorney or solicitor or a firm of attorneys or solicitors carrying on business in liverpool or preston. (for further details see deed). provision of two annual prizes to be awarded each year to the articled clerks passing the best examination in honours in that year and one of whom is articled to a solicitor regularly practising within the area now covered by the dewsbury law society the prize is awarded at each part ii qualifying examination to the first candidate in the first class at that examination the purpose of establishing a prize for law students subject to such regulations as might from time to time be made for the purpose by the council of the society. a prize to be awarded to the candidate who has shown himself best acquainted with the law of real property and the practice of conveyancing, having otherwise passed a satisfactory examination and to whom honorary distinction shall have been awarded. prize to be awarded by the the council of the society in michelmas term 1923 and every susuquent michelmas term to the candidate who at the final honors examination in that term or in the hilary easter or trininty terms respectively of the same year as shown himself best acquainted with the principles of common law obtained at least two-thirds of the total marks obtainable in that subject and obtained honorary distinction in that subject. the prize shall not be awarded to any candidate who shall be above the age of twenty seven years on the first day of his final examination. a prize to encourage the study of law among clerks who have already entered or may enter into articles of clerkship to solicitors practising within the area of the associated societies comprising the counties of glamorgan, carmarthen, pembroke, cardigan, merioneth and montgomery and such other area as they may be added there to an annual prize to be awarded to the discretion of the council of the law society a prize for candidates who have been articled in the counties of surrey or sussex, or the sons of solicitors who have resided and practised in either of those counties and who have shown themselves best acquainted with the law of real property and the practise of conveyancing promoting the advancement of legal education by the provision of bursaries and grants to young solicitors in accordance with the provisions laid down by the trust deed. otherwise, the provision of bursaries and grants to law students intending to study for examinations set by the law society. see individual constituents.
