(a) granting prizes or rewards, not exceeding the value 25p in any one case to children whose parents are bona fide resident within the area of the ancient parish of newland, and who are, and have for not less than two years been, scholars in a public elementary school(s) and who have received from the manager(s) of the school(s) such a certificate(s) in writing of their good conduct, regularly in attendance, and proficinecy during that period as shall be satisfactory to the trustees. (b) in making payments, either to teachers, or by way of prizes or rewards to children whose parents are bona fide resident in religious knowledge in accordance with the doctrines of the church of england of the scholars in any public elementary school(s) in the parish.
