the trustees shall apply the clear income of the charity in awarding to pupils and former pupils of isleworth and syon school, who are not more than 18 years of age, scholarships, to be known as harold caldecott lake scholarships, tenable at any school, universiry, college of education or other place of learning approved by the trustees: provided that in awarding scholarships as aforesiad the trustees shall give preference to pupils and former pupils who intend to pursue science subjects.
