assisting past, present of future professional members of the musuems assoiation, their surviving spouses and immediate dependants (including issue under 21 years of age) who by reason of their strained financial circumstances are in need. income to be distributed to art galleries or museums in the british isles for the purchase of pictures and works of art, giving preference to the beecroft art gallery. (such works of art and pictures to be by old masters or worthy school pictures of old masters only and beign not later in date than the end of the 18th to advance education in and to foster and encourage the preservation and better understanding of the material heritage of mankind and the environment for the public benefit by the promotion and development of museums and art galleries and by encouraging the involvement of members of the public in their work and to establish, uphold and advance the standards of professional education, qualification, training and competence of those employed in museums and art galleries. the relief in cases of need, hardship or distress of past or present individual members of the association and their dependants and, to the extent that the trust fund is not required for the foregoing charitable objects, any surplus shall be applied for the advancement of education and training of students of any united kingdom course, examination or programme relating to the education and training of museum or art gallery personnel organised by the museums association
