(1) relieving either generally or individually the widows, widowers, divorced or separated spouses and children of deceased clergy of the church of england who are in need, hardship or distress. preference shall be given firstly to widows or unmarried daughters of deceased clergymen and the divorced or separated wives of clergymen who have held office in the cathedral church of lichfield and the to the widows or unmarried daughters of deceased clergymen and the divorced or separated wives of clergymen who have served in the diocese of lichfield and coventry as constituted on the 23 august 1798 or in any of the peculiars within the same.(2) if in so far as the income cannot be applied as aforesaid then the trustees may apply the income of the charity for the relief in need, hardship or distress of widows, widowers, divorced or separated spouses or children of deceased clergy of the church in wales and the scottish episcopal church.
