the objects of the society shall be to educate the public in the art and science of instrumental music and in particular to:-(i) promote orchestral concerts in south lakeland, particularly in kendal, and,(ii) manage a chamber orchestra formed of players principally from cumbria and north lancashire, and other areas, as necessary, to take part in such concerts, for as long as the society considers such an orchestra viable.
