gifts to inmates. providing gifts to inmates (1)for the provision and maintenance of almshouses for poor persons who are retired seamen or their widows or dependants being not less than 60 years of age, such seamen, widows or dependants being at the time of appointment resident in the town of whitby and the neighbourhood thereof. (2)subject to the payments aforesaid the trustees shall apply the income of the charity for the benefit of the residents in the almshouses of the charity or any of them in such manner as the trustees think fit from time to time.
