the trustees shall apply the income of the trust in promoting the education (including social and physical training) of persons who are resident in, or who attend, or have attended any school in the area of the former municipal borough of middleton in one or more of the following ways or in such other ways as they think fit: (a) in awarding scholarships, bursaries, grants or maintenance allowances tenable at any school, university, college of education or other institution of further or higher (including professional and technical) education by the trustees. for further details see trust deed dated 22 july 1980.
