to promote the study of archaeology, local history and the related arts and sciences in telford and the surrounding district. (for further details see clause 2 of consititution) 1) to promote the study of archaeology and history and the related arts and sciences in shropshire including the unitary authority of telford and wrekin and where relevant extending to the severn valley system the welsh marches and north wales or the west midlands.2) to provide for the advancement of public education in the said studies and to make available any research or publications undertaken in the said studies.3) to provide for an annual bursary to be known as the john pagett bursary for the said studies and for research into them.4) to co-ordinate with and to provide funding for any corporation or institution which will carry out or conduct such studies and which is approved by a majority of the member of the society.5) to support and to aid any other charity formed or to be formed for objects similar to those contained in this clause.
