a. to promote the welfare of the over-60's of newcastle-upon-tyne and the north kenton ara in particulr (1982 boundary) without distinction of sex, or of political, religious or other opinion by organising and promoting activities or providing facilities for recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the sid inhabit-ants. b. to establish or secure the establishment of recreation facilities and to maintain and manage or to co-operate with any statutory authority in the maintenance and management of such facilities for activities promoted by the association and its constituent bodies in furtherance of the stated objects.
