the provision of scholarships for boys of special proficiency in science and applied sciences, such scholarships to be tenable at the swansea technical college or at some other institution of higher education. if such scholarships cannot be awarded under these trusts, then the income shall be applied to beneficiaries who are in need of financialassistance to pursue their education in one or more of the following ways: a. in the award to beneficiaries of exhibitions or grants tenable at any of further (including professional and technical) education; b. in the award of bursaries or maintenance allowances to enable beneficiaries to travel, whether to this country or abroad, to pursue their education, or to enable them to study music or other arts; c. in providing financial assistance, outfits, clothing, tools, instruments or books to enable beneficiaries on leaving school, university or other educational establishment to prepare for, or assist their entry into, a profession, trade or calling; and d. in otherwise assisting beneficiaries to pursue courses of study, including post-graduate study. beneficiaries being persons of either sex, resident in or near the beneficial area who have not attained the age of 25 years.
