the provision of three two-year scholarships at the swansea technical school, one for the best student in chemistry of the year, one for the best metallurgical student of the year, and one for the best student of modern languages for commercial purposes; if such scholarships cannot be awarded under these trusts, then the income shall be applied to beneficiaries who are in need of financial assistance to pursue their education in one or more of the following ways: a) in the award of exhibitions or grants tenable at any university, university college, college of education or other institution of further (including professional and technical) education; b) in the award of bursaries or maintenance allowances to enable beneficiaries to travel whether to this country or aborad, to pursue their education, or to enable them to study music or other arts; c) in providing financial assistance, outfits, clothing, tools, instruments or books to enable beneficiaries on leaving school, university or other educational establishment to prepare for, or assist their entry into, a profession, trade or calling; and d) in otherwise assisting beneficiaries to pursue courses of study, including post-graduate study. beneficiaries being persons of either sex, resident in or near the benefical area, who have not attained the age of 25 years.
