the net income of the foundation shall be applied, by the manchester law society in the furtherance of the legal education and training and the advancement in life of persons who are training in manchester, salford or the neighbourhood thereof to be solicitors, in one of more of the following ways:- a. the award of prizes, exhibitions and scholarships; b. the payment of fees or travelling or maintenance allowances; c. the provison of books and other materials; and d. making such other provsion as the society may think fit.
