Objects:
(a) to assist the governors for the time being of the said schools to discharge their obligations under the said education acts with respect to the maintenance of the schools. (b) to provide at the schools special benefits of any kind not normally provided by the local education authority. (c) to promote the education (including education in the doctrines of the church of england and social and physical training) of pupils and former pupils of the schools who are in need of financial assistance and are under the age of 25 years in one or both of the following ways or in such other ways as the trustees think fit provided that preferance shall be given to such pupils and former pupils who are or have a parent or parents resident in the borough of hyndburn: (1) in awarding to such pupils and former pupils scholarships, exhibition's, bursaries, maintenance allowances or grants tenable at any school, university college of education or other institution of further (including professional and technical) education approved for the purposes by the managing trustees. (11) in providing financial assistance, outfits, clothing, tools, instruments or books to assist such pupils and former pupils to pursue their education (including the study of music and other arts). to undertake travel in furtherance thereof, or to prepare for or enter a profession, trade, occupation or service on leaving school, university, or other educational establishment.
