the award of scholarships, bursaries, maintenance allowances, or grants for secondary or further (including professional and technical) or university education. provision of financial assistance, clothing, tools, books, etc to assist children and young persons who have not attained the age of 25 years who are resident in the county of salop, with a first preference for those resident in the ancient parish of st. julian, shrewsbury, a second preference for those resident in the ecclesiastical parish of holy cross and saint giles, and a third preference for those resident in the borough of shrewsbury, and who in the opinion of the trustees are in need of financial assistance to prepare for, or to enter, a profession, trade or calling.
